You should only count actual titles.  Thus, boxsets of TV shows only count as one, but boxsets of movies count one for each movie; and of course, single movies count as one.

That's how I count mine as well. Damn near running out of room now...

I count 1 for a season of a TV series.  A boxset of movies counts as 1 if the discs aren't also available individually.  If they are, I don't count the box but count the individual discs.  That puts me at a shade under 5600 discs, with about 7220 profiles after adding a bunch of children profiles.

I am 800 short but maybe you grant me three wishes / questions.

What in god havens is so interesting on DVD to go beyond the 2000?
I have around 1200 and i am slowing down because at the moment
i have nearly everything i reagard interesting, and believe me
i have a lot of trash, appart what someone is able to watch in a livetime.

How do you store these amounts of DVDs? Appart form the womens acceptance factor, have you all got a warehouse or storage nearby?

Are you all Millionairs?
I buy not everything on the release date but overall when you hit 2000 you have spent maybe 80.000 USD or more for your collection. When you can afford these amount you must have rich relatives or you are drowning in work and you would not be able to watch your stuff.

I saw on the first Page 6000+, how and why?
I worship all of you 2000+, i am unworthy

Yes, you have a lot of trash. What you don't have are classics. Well, you seem to have a handful rather uncommon choices of classics for some bizarre reason. Did you accidentally buy them? :D Nothing against a Sirk movie or a Rock Hudson comedy but they're hardly the movies you'd expect in a collection with less than 50 classic Hollywood movies in there. What you also don't seem to have are any art house films. It's easy to see that the number of interesting movies grows significantly if you broaden your interest from 2-3 decades to 10-11 decades.

well, I only have 700 but I think one wall should be enough for ~1500. So if you have a whole room for them, up to 7500 should be no huge problem.

If you actually paid 40 USD per movie you did something wrong. I'm under 7€ per movie and that already includes two dozen Masters of Cinema DVDs and similar quite expensive items that raise the average.

Ok, 80K is a bit too much, but 15 to 20 Euros for a DVD is not seldomly spent.

But 7500 for an average german apartment room is something I can´t think of as long as you need Windows and Doors . Ok, my four of my five shelfs are only 180cm high, which wastes some space up to the ceiling.

I guess, when you reach 1000+ DVDs the chances are pretty high, that at leased some trash.
Can you give some examples what classics and art house films  you mean?

I was going to say any screwball comedy or a classic like Citizen Kane but then I realized you actually got a screwball, Bringing Up Baby. If you got that one, and know about the dozen other worthy screwballs out there, along with hundreds or thousands of classic Hollywood movies, how can you have any questions on how to reach 2000 DVDs? I'm assuming you didn't accidentally buy that movie, so apparently you know about movies before 1970. This really leaves me puzzled. I mean, you got ~1000 rather new movies and fail to imagine how one can amass ~6000 if he's as interested in all decades and countries as you are in contemporary Hollywood?

And if you spend 15-20 occasionally that doesn't mean your average is 15-20. You're certainly familiar with Müller 3 für 4 and similar sales and you certainly spent less than 5€ on some of yours. Like if you bought Keinohrhasen, Ratatouille or some of the other movies that Media Markt offers right now.

With the 4 I received today I'm up to 2088.
I've run out of room.  Right now I have 5 stacks of movies about 3 feet tall (each) next to my desk.

Hopefully I'll be moving in a year or two.  I plan on a room for my home theater (nothing too fancy) with one or two walls of shelving.
I work for an office furniture manufacturer and I'm eyeing one of our bookcase lines.  With my employee price I should be able to get 4 or 5 big bookcases at a good price.  Of course assuming I'm still working there when I move.  You never know these days.

3 feet is not much

I have 4 Bisley cabinets which are just about 4 feet tall. This leaves much room up to the Ceiling but you go 3 dimensional if you know what i mean. Those cabinets are actually nothing you want to have in your livingroom. Actually they are in storage and i have to move them soon. I have no idea where, at the moment.

With the purchase of six dvd's (a couple t.v. sets a couple films) the count in my local is now at 2004.

Don't have child profiles for television seasons or series, so those only count as one in my local. I do split up boxsets into single films (and actually very rarely, only on one or two occasions, enter the boxset itself) so any original boxset counts for as many titles that came with it.

It ain't entirely accurate though.

Still have a couple double feature sets that I need to split up and enter as separate profiles, still have a Blood Soaked Cinema DVD with 12 films on it that isn't in the system and I've been too lazy to add, and that Unseen Cinema Boxset from Image Entertainment is still sitting in my local as only one title (lot of work to enter in 140+ films for a single boxset) so in reality I probably passed 2000 sometime back in early December.

Woot.

The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.

Yes. I finally did it. Over 2,000 scanned in and owned DVD's, HD-DVD's, and Blu-ray...
I haven't counted but around 300 are Blu-ray alone.

I am currently at 3767!
252 of these are Blu Ray's.

Since there seems to be only a 2000+ and a 5000+ club I will open a 3500+ Club though. To have something in the middle.
